Some years back, when I started paying attention to the story my life was telling me, a plot line for my career, that was consistent with my values and gifting, came into focus. Now, with more than twenty years of Learning and Development experience behind me, the constancy in the narrative continues with the practice of coaching and consulting. Promoting understanding and encouraging personal development is still a passion. Specifically, helping individuals and small organizations align their values with the way they live and work is my delight.
I’ve worked with private and non-profit companies to analyze needs, develop organization strategies, design curriculum, deliver training, facilitate learning, and lead teams, all to help improve human performance. I’ve worked with individuals to provide strategic insight, develop personal action plans, and gain momentum in achieving goals, all as encouragement to live fulfilling lives.
Paired with my portfolio of work is a foundation of formal instruction, which shapes the way I approach my practice. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University, as well as a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Marymount University. Additionally, I’m a certified personal and executive coach (CaPP Institute), and hold a certificate in Instructional Design (Marymount University).
Perhaps even more than my work and my education, my life experiences as a wife, mom, sister, auntie, friend, daughter, and community member refine and enrich my approach as a coach and consultant. I value the range of life I’ve lived in each of these roles. I treasure the lessons I’ve lived as mountains have been made low and valleys have been filled in.
My journey into organization development consulting began when I was working for a humanitarian organization that was doing good work all around the world. The problem was, as the organization grew and our footprint increased, we found ourselves grasping to create systems to support “getting the work done” without destroying the culture and values that defined us. Like most organizations, we struggled to do so.
I enrolled in a master’s program for organization development and knowledge management, and found “my people.” I love working alongside leaders on the soft skills of developing people, building teams and a healthy culture – doing the invisible yet absolutely critical behind-the-scenes work that make or break organizations. People do the work in organizations, and culture shapes how the work gets done.
So for over a decade, I’ve served in various leadership and consultancy roles lending support and strategic expertise to organizations navigating change. Prior to joining the team at Another Perspective, I founded a leadership development and consulting organization, and served as a global program director for International Justice Mission (IJM).
I hold a Master’s in Organization Development & Knowledge Management from George Mason University. My areas of expertise includes organizational analysis, culture and values assessments, group facilitation, collaborative planning, and change management. I also serve as an associate pastor at a local church in the Washington DC area, and am a freelance writer for faith-based service organizations.
With more than twenty-five years of experience in the Marketing and Development industry, I have refined my skills in the art of relationship building and community engagement. Partnering with executives, entrepreneurs, and soloprenuers to innovate and execute results-oriented plans has been my call. Many of those plans have generated millions in funding to support charitable organizations. I understand how to inspire confidence in clients, teams, and executive leadership while leading them to successful outcomes.
As a Brand and Engagement Strategist, I have championed national programs and fundraising initiatives across the country. Recent efforts to unite stakeholders around a common mission and manage relationships with public and private sector clientele have resulted in an annual fundraising amount of $15 million.
I lend my expertise to Another Perspective as a senior consultant while also serving as the Chief Development Officer at Community Health Charities. At CHC, I lead the nationwide sales and account managers. Prior to my work with CHC, I served as the Director of Marketing and Member Services for Neighbor to Nation and Christian Service Charities. Previously, I also worked as National Director for Angel Tree at Prison Fellowship and as Operations Manager at Community of Hope.
I received a BA in Business and Public Relations from MidAmerica Nazarene University and hold a certificate of Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University.
